Hypnotherapy

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that uses hypnosis, a focused state of attention, in combination with therapeutic techniques , to help create a desired change. In hypnotherapy, you will use your imagination with the help of suggestions from me to change your subconscious thoughts and help improve your habits, behaviours and thoughts.

Hypnotherapy is not a cure for conditions but a way of helping you to manage unpleasant symptoms and it can be used alongside conventional treatments

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnosis is a natural state that we all experience spontaneously.

In hypnotherapy, we simply use this state on demand for a specific goal.

In a hypnotherapy session, you will be asked to sit comfortably and follow some instructions.

You are always in control in hypnosis, and will be aware of everything I say. You can move and make yourself comfortable as needed. Feel free to scratch your nose or sneeze if you need to, you won't break the hypnotic state. You can come out of hypnosis anytime you like.

It is very much a collaborative process between you the client and me the therapist. You can't have hypnosis done to you. You have to use your imagination and engage with the process. If you imagine someone driving a car and someone else reading a map for them, you can think of the map reader as the therapist and the driver as the client. It’s up to the driver to decide whether to follow the directions of the map reader.

Can anyone have hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be used by the majority of people, however it is generally not advised if you suffer from a severe depressive illness, epilepsy, psychosis e.g schizophrenia or other psychiatric disorders.

Reiki

What is reiki?

“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
The method of receiving Reiki is simple, you will remain clothed and lie on a couch and relax. I will gently place my hand in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near your body. There is no massage or manipulation.

There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence reiki can help the body physically, emotionally or spiritually. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system. It can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatment and often helps to provide emotional support during recovery.

Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, from new-born babies to the frail and the elderly. It is widely used with pregnant mothers, surgical patients and many other conditions.
